NordHUD

Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

MapTube AB ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and safeguard your information when you use our NordHUD application ("the App"). We are a company registered in Sweden and comply with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and applicable Swedish data protection laws.

2. Privacy by Design

NordHUD is built with privacy as a core principle. Your location data is processed entirely on your device and is never transmitted to our servers. Speed limit lookups happen locally using downloaded map data - no internet connection is required for core functionality.

3. Information We Collect

3.1 Information Processed Locally (Not Collected by Us)

  • Location Data: Your GPS coordinates are used solely on your device to determine speed limits. This data never leaves your device and is not stored persistently.
  • Speed Data: Your current speed (from GPS or OBD-II device) is processed locally and not transmitted or stored.
  • Map Data: Downloaded speed limit databases are stored locally on your device for offline use.

3.2 Information We May Collect

  • Account Information: If you create an account or make purchases, we may collect your email address and purchase history.
  • Device Information: Basic device type and OS version for compatibility and troubleshooting purposes.
  • Crash Reports: Anonymous crash data to help us improve app stability (only if you opt in).
  • Analytics: Anonymized, aggregated usage statistics (such as which features are used) to improve the App. No personal or location data is included.

4. How We Use Your Information

We use the limited information we collect to:

  • Provide and maintain the App's functionality
  • Process purchases and manage your account
  • Improve app performance and fix bugs
  • Understand usage patterns to enhance the user experience (anonymized data only)
  • Respond to support requests
  • Comply with legal obligations

5. Legal Basis for Processing (GDPR)

Under GDPR, we process your data based on the following legal grounds:

  • Contract: Processing necessary to provide the App and fulfill purchases
  • Legitimate Interest: Improving app performance and security
  • Consent: For optional analytics and marketing communications (where applicable)
  • Legal Obligation: Compliance with applicable laws

6. Data Storage and Security

Local Processing: Your location and speed data is processed entirely on your device. Speed limit lookups use locally stored map data with no server communication required.

Account Data: If you create an account, your information is stored securely using industry-standard encryption. We use Cloudflare's infrastructure, which operates globally with data centers in the European Union and other regions. While we aim to process data within the EU when possible, some data may be processed or stored in Cloudflare's global network for performance and reliability purposes, always with appropriate security measures and in compliance with GDPR.

Retention: We retain account data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. Analytics data is retained in anonymized form.

7. Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal data. We may share limited information with:

  • Service Providers: Third-party services that help us operate the App (payment processing, analytics, crash reporting). These providers are bound by confidentiality obligations.
  • Legal Requirements: When required by law or to protect our rights
  • Business Transfers: In connection with a merger or acquisition (you would be notified)

8. Third-Party Services

The App may use:

  • Apple App Store: For purchases and account management (see Apple's Privacy Policy)
  • Analytics Services: For anonymized usage statistics (optional)
  • Crash Reporting: To identify and fix issues (optional)

These services have their own privacy policies. We encourage you to review them.

9. Your Rights (GDPR)

As a user in the European Union, you have the right to:

  • Access: Request a copy of your personal data
  • Rectification: Correct inaccurate personal data
  • Erasure: Request deletion of your data ("right to be forgotten")
  • Portability: Receive your data in a portable format
  • Restriction: Limit how we process your data
  • Object: Object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw Consent: Withdraw consent at any time (where processing is based on consent)

To exercise these rights, contact us at info@nordhud.com. We will respond within 30 days.

10. Location Services

The App requires location access to function. You can control this through:

  • iOS Settings: Go to Settings → Privacy → Location Services → NordHUD
  • Permissions: Choose "While Using" or "Never"

Note: Disabling location services will prevent the App from displaying speed limits. Your location data is processed locally and never transmitted to our servers.

11. Children's Privacy

The App is not intended for children under 16 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe we have collected information from a child, please contact us immediately.

12. International Data Transfers

We use Cloudflare's global infrastructure which includes data centers in the European Union and other regions. While we aim to process data within the EU when possible, data may be processed or stored in Cloudflare's global network for performance and reliability. We ensure appropriate safeguards are in place in compliance with GDPR (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for any data transfers outside the EU.

13. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the App and updating the "Last Updated" date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
